About Lees-McRae College

Lees-McRae College, often abbreviated LMC, is a private four-year college, affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA), located in Banner Elk, North Carolina, in the United States. It was established in 1899 by Reverend Edgar Tufts and it was named in order to honor Suzanna Lees and Elizabeth McRae, a major benefactor, respectively, a well respected educator. Today, the institution offers its students awards like Bachelor's degrees in the Arts, Sciences and Professional Studies and they can major in over 24 areas of study including Wildlife Rehabilitation and Wildlife Biology.

Lees-McRae College's athletic teams are called The Bobcats, and they compete in NCAA Division II and play in Conference Carolinas, in several sports, for both men and women. Their official colors are green and gold. The college's cycling team has contributed at college's fame by dominating the National Championship title for several years.
